Recently I had my crank rebuilt so I had the cases apart.
During this time I didnt need to remove the clutch or even touch it while the case was apart. Just pulled the crank out and put it back when it was done. Previous to this job the clutch was all ok.

Now that I have the bike back together, the clutch doesnt seem to be working. When I have the bike in gear and pull the clutch, I still cant roll the bike. I adjusted the clutch as per the manual to no avail.
If I tighten the clutch more than need be, the clutch will start to release when pulled but not completely.

Any ideas on why the clutch is not letting go when pulled or what could cause this?

Thanks!

What do you mean by 'more than need be? Surely you need to adjust it more!

Problems:
- cable located wrong
- adjuster behind circular plate has far too much play
- left out the clutch push 'mushroom'

Yeah the adjuster is what I meant by tightened more than the Manual suggests. In fact, it's as far as possible and still the clutch isn't letting go all the way. Mushroom piece is in place.
I'll pull the lower part that covers the end of the cable and see if there's a problem there.
Thanks for the input.

So checked the other end of the cable and its in its lever correctly. Clutch is adjusted per the manual and no slack in cable.
With the center cap removed from the clutch case side, it seems that its all moving like it should but still when the clutch is pulled and the bike is in gear, the bike doesnt roll totally free. It rolls somewhat better but not free like it should. I feel like when I pulled the clutch in, it should roll like its in neutral.

Any ideas why its not totally releasing when the hand lever is pulled? Question

OK, so my bike is a racer and I have to start her by bump starting. Most of the time when I put her in gear I have to roll backwards a bit to unstick the clutch plates before she will roll freely forwards. Even then, she won't roll as freely as when she's in neutral.

Absolutely, and if the bike has sat around for ages, the clutch drags/sticks like a good 'un!

Is the bike running yet? If not, no problem!

Yeah, bike is running.
Although not very well. Shocked

But thanks yeah, maybe just sticking from time to time. When I try to ride it this week we'll see if its actually a problem.
