I just replaced the points on my T20 and was checking the timing. I'm puzzled because I can detect continuity at all times, even with the contact points open. When I disconnect the left condenser the continuity breaks when the points open (left and right)while rotating the engine,as you would expect. I replaced the left condenser with a new one but I still have the same problem (no break in continuity). When I manually open each point with the ignition switch on I get a healthy spark off the corresponding sparkplug lead. Does this sound normal or do I have a short somewhere?

Sounds fine to me. If you have it wired correctly and you're getting a nice spark - thats fine!
