The oil fill cap doesn't have a dipstick on it. How do I check the level of the crankcase oil?

There is a filler level screw on the clutch casing - just in front of the clutch 'hump'. However, this is very difficult to use correctly. It is best to take off the clutch inspection cover (Circular one, held on with 3 screws) and fill up until the level can be seen to be at the same height as the level screw.
