Your help would be greatly appreciated

I received this with my latest restoration project, Suzuki T20, they fit onto the engine perfectly, but have larger fins, inlets and outlets than the standard cylinder, + the standard exhaust wont fit( so that I can sell them), also the carburettors are bigger than standard. I'd like to know which bike they could fit, I've also got a complete racing footrest assembly, one piston, and racing handlebars, + 2 slip on exhaust silencers + some other bits and bobs
The bores are heavily corroded so they will need to be rebored. drop me a mail if anybody is interested, I'd be willing to trade all these parts for standard Suzuki T20 parts, as I want to get mine back to original spec

TR250?

What you have are a set of TR250 Barrels with original remote reservoir Carbs as fitted by the factory. These are both very rare and very sought after, if I were you I would put them on/in e bay/Classic racer/this site, if I was selling them I would expect to get 600 - 800 pounds depending on condition, don't worry about the condition of the bores because a top tuner would replace them whatever the condition. If they are genuine suzuki (there were a lot of copies made) there will be part numbers on the base of the barrels and heads, the fact that you have the original carbs (which even the racers in the sixties immediately dumped because they were so crap) would suggest these are genuine suzuki. I would sell the carbs seperately, they are of no use to serious racers (who will pay the most for the barrel's) however they will be wanted by anyone wanting to build an original TR250.
If these Barrels came with a engine and/or frame check the Crankcases and frame to make sure you have not got an original TR250, they will be stamped TR250 and then an engine/frame number (complete and in good condition a TR250 is worth 6/7000 pounds).
Lastly I would like to say you lucky, lucky B*****d!

Franz and I made a deal yesterday. TR250 Barrels with Carbs and some spares have been today shipped to Finland.

The bike is a standard one, as I've got the original paperwork, but I do have two motors,
one of them less cylinders now, so there might be a racing engine fitted to the bike, or it might be the one that's in parts (completly dismantled). How do I find out??, were is the engine number located ??

If you look at the engine from the rear the engine number is located behind the left hand barrel on the top crankcase half above the sprocket drive on a small flat section, it will be stamped T20 then five or six numbers or TR250 then one to three numbers, occasionally there will be nothing stamped on the plate at all either because it was a latter replacement or some counties had a seperate plate fitted elsewhere on the engine (i.e some American states). Even it is not TR250 if it has been used for racing the bottom end it may have had a high ratio 1st gear or staight cut primaries fitted, worth selling if you are not going to race your T20.

Hi thanks a ton, I checked today, and I do have a engine with a number which is the same as in the papers and I do have a dismantled engine with no number, not even with the small flat section where the number is supposed to go, anybody interested ?? maybe a trade

When I'll get the barrels and heads next week I let you know if they are genuine Suzuki ones or some copies.

I wonder what other differencies there perhaps are between TR250 and T20 engines? How about Casings, Crankshaft, Gearbox, Clutch, Ignition, Lubrication?

Apart from the barrels and heads there was very little different between the two engines, the TR had bigger carburettors (29/30mm), a different magneto, the gears were undercut (standard on later T20's)with a high ratio first gear and staight cut primary gears. The lack of any major differences was it's problem, although it was very well designed it was a road bike engine and so it was too heavy and under powered and plus it did'nt handle.
It is only because of the advancement in knowledge of two stroke tuning, they are relativily easy to find and cheap (for classic racing) that they now dominate the 250 racing class.

The barrels ans heads I've got really are genuine Suzuki TR250 ones.
