Well after what seems to be a very long time I hope to be assembling the motor for my T-20 project with the hopes of getting it running. The problem now is I need to know what you racer guys are using for Ignition Timing. I like to use the Dial Indicater methode to set the timing. What I need to know is how many thou BTDC I need to set the timing. Thanks for the help!

It is some years since I have raced but then everyone ignored the T20's standard ignition timing of 3.45mm and went for 1.8mm or 1.9mm, others prefered to copy TZ timing which was 1.0mm. It may well be that current thinking has changed again.
Most people seem to be using digital systems which are usually preset by the manufacture unless you are techinally minded and have all the computer software.

I would love to use an electronic system on this bike but no one makes one for street use. I have check just about everywhere and still no one has anything for the street. I did buy a complete NOS mechanical set up so that it will be a good as I can get. I have asked on this sight before about electronic systems for the street and exhausted every lead you guys supplied me with. If there is some one out there that has any other thoughts please let me know. I would love to use the racing unit that you show on this sight. To be able to adjust the timing would be great!

As Peter says - anywhere from 1.8mm BTDC to 1mm. It all depends on your set up and where you want the power to be.

Dial gauge down the plug hole is the correct way to set it all up, although if you run it and use a timing light, that is accurate too.

Pick a setting and see how it goes!
