Well once again I need a bit of help on my T-20 Street Bike project. After much paint and chrome work I am at the point of assembling the forks. I am wondering what would be the best amount and weight of oil for the forks. I have installed a set of Works Performance shocks on the back, to better handle the extra power I am hoping to get, and would like to know if there is some thing better than the stock specks.

Thanks for all of the help in the past.

Hi Mark
I use either 200cc or 225cc of oil per leg. Different sources give different values - maybe someone knows the definitive amount?
There is no damping in the t20 forks, so a thick oil does help a little (not much!). I use SAE90 gear oil in my racing bike, with stronger springs and it makes it handle really well. The lack of damping is still a problem at times, but for fast road work would be fine.
Try SAE80 and 200cc per leg first maybe.

Alternatively, use T250 fork legs or similar. Fork specialists over here like Maxtons won't touch T20 forks as they say you can't use them for racing!

So where did you get the stronger springs and would they be a good choice for street use? I have been looking for a set and have been unable to find any here in the States. Then lastly if you add more oil to the shocks what is the out come, 200cc as oposed to 225cc?

I wish to thank you guys for all of the help in the past.

I guy I met at a race meeting had raced T20s and had had some stiffer springs made! He lent them to me last year... I haven't returned them yet! What I was going to do was make up some spacers for below the top yoke to add a bit more preload to the springs. You could try this.
With regards the 200/225cc I'm not sure if there IS much difference.

I changed the oil and found that I had used 200cc per leg.
I have now done the same to my road bike and that works well too.
