I'm planning to run my T20 race bike on 30 mm Mikuni Carbs and to mount them on to the cylinders as Adrian have done: aluminium plate screwed on the barrel to which then fitted Mikuni rubber mounting flange. The inner diameter of the rubber flange is 30 mm but the inlet port wall is quite thinnish so I doubt to grind the front of the inlet port to the same-size 30 mm diameter!
I guess the diameter of the inlet port against the aluminium plate/rubber flange can't be smaller than 30 mm or what do you think?

You certainly can't have a step in it from the carb rubber to the Aluminium plate. I'm not sure about narrowing the rest of the inlet port though - I'm not a tuning expert! (I fit barrels others have tuned)
