on recently acquired t20 the kickstart sometimes does not engage. I have not as yet got as far as firing up the engine. What is the likely cause of this. Any ideas

The small pawl inside the kickstart drive gear is supposed to engage with that gear when you kickstart it. I suspect that the spring which pushes on a small plunger, that pushes this out, is either broken or damaged.
Other than that, missing teeth on the gear, but this is doubtful. |

Thanks for your comments adrian,hopefully there isn`t too much damage,but looks like I will have to tear some of it apart to get it solved.
